Hoppy Easter

So, I'm thinking I might like Easter even better than Christmas as far the wee one is concerned. We had a fabulous Easter weekend. Friday afternoon, we headed up to Lake Grapevine to camp with Kevin, Candie and the kids. Canyon had had his 11th birthday party there the night before - so we arrived to 6 VERY rambunctious, overtired boys. One by one, their parents picked them up, and things settled down. The kids played on the amazing playground, we rode bikes, and goofed off in general. Our friend Scott (one of our Wet n Wild buddies) came out for the afternoon with his 2 year old daughter Alex. It was super windy on the shore - so we spent about an hour flying Jeff's stunt kites. The kids loved it. Scott and Alex left, and Keven and Deidre Teague (FWFD) came out to spend the night as well. Jeff, Anika and I braved the 40 degree temperature and slept in the tent. Anika slept like a ROCK, and once again was my own personal furnace. We woke up the next morning, and fixed a huge breakfast of eggs, bacon and cinnamon rolls. Yum. We said our goodbyes and headed home around one, to get Anika down for a good nap, because the Wood's were arriving at 4 for dinner.
Angie and I did alot of prep work, telling the kids that we had been in contact with the Easter Bunny, and that due to threat of bad weather Sunday, he was going to try to make it by Saturday afternoon. We were all outside on the AMAZING patio that Jeff has created, when James (in all his 6 year old wisdom) said, "Guys! We better go inside! The Easter Bunny won't come if we are all out here!". Smart kid. We headed in, corralled the kids into the playroom, and Angie and I ran interference while Jeff and Mike headed outside to create a welcoming environment for the Easter Bunny. ;) They came back in, and we adults settled in the living room to hurry up and wait. Sure enough - 5 minutes later, James walks through the room, and spies an Easter egg out on the porch. "Meredith! Anika! He came! The Easter Bunny came! There's eggs! Lots of eggs! Hurry!". So freaking cute. The kids assembled by the back door, were handed their Easter baskets, and set loose. I have never seen anything so hilarious. They were running every which way, with Mer and James directing Anika so she would get her fair share. All in all - the Easter Bunny left about a hundred eggs - and they found every last one. They went inside and divided their loot, while we prepared a delicious dinner of shrimp cocktail, steak, asparagus, and baked potato. Hot dogs for the kids. We ate outside, finishing up just as the first couple of drops of rain fell. It was awesome.
Sunday (Easter) - Jeff had to work. So Anika and I got dressed up, picked up Mom, and went down to her clubhouse for an authentic Polish lunch one of her neighbors was having. Reminded me of my childhood in Chicago. We had a great holiday weekend.
